In this time of crisis
Updated: Mar 25, 2020
The current times, adjusting to being basically locked indoors, is a jarring and difficult time for most people. I personally, am keeping busy. By eating.. and gaining 8 pounds in 5 days.
Besides that I'm also doing a lot of reading and being very productive with this time.
I finished reading Dare to Lead by Brene Brown and came upon two questions that I thought were very fitting considering the panic caused by the Corona Virus.
1. Do I have enough information to freak out about this situation?
2. If I do have enough data, will freaking out help?
I personally feel that we have enough information to make the right choice and stay in, stop hoarding supplies, and spend our time wisely preparing for when this is over.
Freaking out will not help.
What will help when you're feeling overly anxious are square breaths.
What is a square breath you may be asking?
It's when you breath into your diaphragm for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 4 seconds, breath out for four seconds, and hold your breath for four seconds.
Doing even three sets of square breaths can calm your nervous system down and give you a feeling of calmness.
Try it!
Until next time, stay safe, and stop hoarding toilet paper :)
